Gear selector lever assembly Geartronic, replacing

Removal

Removing centre tunnel console
See Center console, replacing Service and Repair.

Detaching the boot and removing the gear selector knob
Detach the boot from the gear selector. Remove the gear selector knob. See Gear selector knob, Geartronic, replacing, B8444S, TF-80SC AWD, B6324S, TF-80SC, B6324S, TF-80SC AWD Gear Selector Knob, Geartronic, Replacing.
Angle the top panel with the boot away from the gear selector lever.




Remove the wiring from the clips.
Disconnect the connector from the gear selector assembly.

Removing the gear selector assembly stop




Press in the 4 catches on the sides. Pull the stop straight up out of the gear selector assembly.

Removal the gear selector assembly and mechanical cables





Remove:
- the catch for the cable at the gear selector lever
- the cable from the end of the gear selector assembly
- the key lock cable. Pry out the locking sleeve slightly and lift up the cable from the gear selector assembly
- the 4 screws for the gear selector assembly.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see Tightening Torque

Installing the gear selector assembly and mechanical cables





Install:
- the gear selector assembly to the bodywork. Tighten to 25 Nm
- the cable to the gear selector. Secure the cable with the catch
- cable on the gear selector nose
- the key lock cable to the gear selector assembly. Place the cable in the extracted locking sleeve.

Installing the gear selector assembly stop




Install the gear selector assembly stop on the gear selector assembly. Lock it into place in the gear selector assembly.
Secure the rear connector in the gear selector assembly.

Installing gear selector knob and boot





Install:
- the boot and the top panel over the gear selector
- the gear selector knob Press it so that it locks in the gear selector.
Check that the lock function operates in its positions.

Installing the locking sleeve for the boot





Note! The locking sleeve cut-out must be forwards so that it passes into the guide for the gear selector knob.

Slide the locking sleeve and boot up to the knob guide. Pull up the sleeve so that it locks the boot.

Initial setting of the key lock cable (adjustment)
Adjust the key lock cable. See: Key interlock cable, initial setting and adjustment .

Installing the centre tunnel console
