Remove the gear selector knob
Remove the gear selector knob. See Gear selector knob, Geartronic, replacing.
Remove the center console
Remove the top panel from the gear selector assembly
Separate the connectors.
Remove:
- the rear connector
- the cables from the clips.
Remove the gear selector assembly stop
Use a screwdriver.
Insert the screwdriver in the slots (1-4). Carefully pry in towards the gear selector assembly with the screwdriver. Pull the gear selector assembly stop up to release the locking
Remove the printed circuit board from the gear selector assembly stop
Release the holder from the gear selector assembly stop.
Remove the printed circuit board. Press out both the catches in the printed circuit board.
Pull the printed circuit board straight out of the holder.
Remove the gear selector boot from the top panel
Press out the 4 catches from the top panel.
Remove the boot.
Replace the top panel and printed circuit board.
Transfer the boot to the new top panel.
Installation
Install the printed circuit board on the holder and gear selector stop
Install:
- the printed circuit board in its holder. Secure it using the 2 catches
- the holder on the gear selector assembly stop. Lock it into place.
Install the gear selector assembly stop
Press the gear selector assembly stop into place in the gear selector assembly.
Note: Check that the gear selector assembly stop is securely in place.
Install the top panel on the gear selector assembly
Note: First install the locking sleeve for the boot on the gear selector lever.
Connect the connectors to the gear selector assembly switches.
Install the connectors on gear selector assembly.

Install the gear selector knob. See Gear selector knob, Geartronic, replacing
Checking the shift positions
Switch on the ignition.
Shift the gear selector through all the shift positions.
Ensure that the letters and/or digits on the display on the combined instrument panel correspond to the shift positions on the top panel.
Install the center console
