Solenoid back-up (reverse) inhibitor, replacing

Removal

Preparations

S60R (B5254T4 engine)
Remove the center console. See Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing.

S60 (other engines)
Remove the center console. See Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing (-2004) or Center console, replacing Center Console, Replacing (2005-).




Disconnect the top panel from the gear selector assembly stop.
Disconnect the mechanical cable from the gear selector assembly.
To access the mechanical cable lock, put the gear selector in P
Disconnect the top panel from gear selector assembly. Twist the top panel to the right.
Remove the mechanical cable lock from the gear selector lever. Use pliers. Pull the lock out of the bushing.
Angle the mechanical cable out of the way.
Remove the mounting bracket for the solenoid.

Removing the solenoid




Shift the gear selector to position D.

Hint: Check that the positive and negative terminals are in the correct position on the solenoid.

Disconnect the cable terminals.
Carefully pull the solenoid up out of the gear selector assembly.

Installing the solenoid




Install the solenoid in the gear selector assembly cut-out. The cable terminals must be upwards in the gear selector assembly.
Secure the solenoid with the bracket.
Connect the cable terminals.

Finishing




Move the gear selector to position P.
Install the mechanical cable lock onto the bushing on the mechanical cable.
Press the mechanical cable into place on the gear selector assembly.
Install the top panel on the gear selector assembly.

Note! Check that the mechanical cable and catches are secure.

Fold and press the top panel into place in the gear selector assembly stop.
