Installing the upper control arm

Special tools:
999 5739 Pres tool 999 5739 Pres Tool
999 5588 Puller rod 999 5588 Puller Rod
999 5575 PULLER CYLINDER USED WITH HYDRAULIC PUMP -5576 999 5575 Puller Cylinder Used With Hydraulic Pump -5576

Installing upper control arm




- Insert the control arm in sub-frame.
- Hang the control arm from the anti-roll bar mounting with a tie strap.
- Install the front bushing and align it in the correct position, as illustrated.
- Mark up the bushing in relation to the sub-frame.




- Screw press tool (A)999 5739 Pres tool 999 5739 Pres Tool into place on the control arm. Use oneM12x65 mmscrew (B) and the bushing.

Note! Check that the markings on the bushing and the sub-frame are opposite each other.




- Insert the threaded rod999 5588 Puller rod 999 5588 Puller Rod (C) through press sleeve999 5739 Pres tool 999 5739 Pres Tool.
- Screw the threaded shaft into place on the control arm.




- Screw the puller cylinder999 5575 PULLER CYLINDER USED WITH HYDRAULIC PUMP -5576 999 5575 Puller Cylinder Used With Hydraulic Pump -5576 (D) into place on the threaded rod999 5588 Puller rod 999 5588 Puller Rod.




- Press the control arm up to the toothed segment.

Note! Donotpress in the control arm so far that the toothed segment goes into the rear bushing.




- Install a M12x70 mm screw with a nut in the hole for the anti-roll bar on the control arm, as a help when measuring.
- Check the height measurement on the control arm. If necessary adjust the height measurement with a tie strap.




- Tighten the control arm into the rear bushing.

Note! If the front bushing reaches the bottom before the rear bushing remove the press tool (5739-1). Tighten the control arm until it bottoms against the rear bushing.




Remove the puller cylinder with the screw.
Install the front and rear (large washer) screws in the control arm. Tighten to 50 Nm.

Remove
- the tie strap
- M12 screw and the nut.
