Brake disc front, calibrating

Special tools:
115 8147 TORQUE SOCKET 1/2" 19 MM 115 8147 Torque Socket 1/2" 19 mm

Preparations





Remove:
- the wheel
- the mounting screws for the brake caliper holder.
Suspend the brake caliper in the spring with a steel wire.

Install the clamp ring




Install clamp ring 999 5419 Included in 9995418 999 5419 Included In 9995418 , included in test tool kit: 999 5418 Measuring kit 999 5418 Measuring Kit , on the hub with the wheel nuts.
Ensure that mating surfaces on the brake disc and clamp ring are clean.
Install the screws lightly. Then tighten them crosswise. Tighten to 110 Nm. When tightening using an impact wrench, use torque socket 115 8147 TORQUE SOCKET 1/2" 19 MM 115 8147 Torque Socket 1/2" 19 mm.

Install the bracket included in the test equipment




Install the bracket for the brake caliper's upper mounting hole first.
Press the bracket against the constant velocity joint.
Then install the lower mounting screw in the brake caliper's lower mounting hole. Clamp the bracket on one side using the flange on the screw.
Use the M12 screws and nuts included in kit 999 5507 SCREW SET 999 5507 Screw Set.

Install the dial gauge




Install the dial gauge in the bracket as illustrated.

Measure the lateral run out




Put the dial gauge point against the brake disc as illustrated.
Turn the brake disc. Use a socket wrench to help.
Note the dial gauge run-out. Brake disc lateral run-out must not exceed 0.040 mm.
If lateral run-out exceeds the value, replace the brake disc.

Finishing work





Remove the test equipment

Install the caliper holder and the brake caliper. Use new screws on the caliper holder. Tighten to: 100 Nm.
