- Ignition off.
- Control unit disconnected.
- Switch off all battery loadings such as courtesy lighting and radio.
Connect an ohmmeter between the battery negative lead and 14 on the test box.
The ohmmeter should display 0(.

No - contact resistance and oxidation

Check the ground points 53/500, 53/501, 53/510 and 53/511 for an open circuit, as described in Checking wiring and terminals. Intermittent faults Checking Wiring and Terminals.
