Wheel Stud / Lug Nut: Service and Repair

Tightening the wheel studs

When installing and tightening wheel studs the following applies.
Ensure that the brake disk and wheel rim mating surfaces are clean. Grease the hub center guide for the rim. Use installation paste 1161397-3.
Tighten the studs lightly. Tighten them crosswise to 110 Nm (81.1 lb.ft) . Torque socket 1158147-7 must be used when tightening with a nut driver.
Crosswise tightening and torque tightening are important to prevent stresses in the brake disc.

Note! The torque socket is designed for use with a standard pneumatic impact nut runner providing a torque of 250-350 Nm (184.4 - 258.1 lb.ft).
