Scrapping
For Deliberate Release Of SIPS Bag, Volvo Recommends The Following:If the Car is to be scrapped, the SIPS bag should be released in place in the car.
If a removed SIPS bag is to be scrapped, the SIPS bag cushion module should be placed in a vise before release.
WARNING: Make sure that no one is in the car and no one is in front of the SIPS bag, when the SIPS bag is released. Release of a loosely clamped or unclamped SIPS bag can cause personal injury.
NOTE: Safety glasses and hearing protection should be used during this procedure.

If car is to be scrapped
- Turn ignition off.
Make sure that SIPS bag is securely fastened to the seat and there are no loose parts around the SIPS bag.
- Attach transport safety device to sensor unit.
- Remove sensor unit and free firing circuit from cable ties and clips.
- Close front doors and windows.
- Pull sensor unit to floor behind seat.
- Remove transport safety device from sensor unit.
- Stand outside the car and hit the middle of the sensor unit with a hammer.
If a removed SIPS bag is to be scrapped
- Make sure that transport safety device is on sensor unit.
- Lock SIPS bag cushion module in a vise, so that cushion is aimed away from sensor unit.
Make sure that cushion module is securely held in vise and that there are no loose parts around the cushion module.
- Remove transport safety device from sensor unit.
- Stand as far from the module as practical, and in an area away from the direction the cushion will release.
- Hit middle of sensor unit with a hammer.
