Connecting Test Box
- Turn ignition off.- Expose instrument panel (remove dash board cover). Service and Repair
- Undo instrument panel connector
Connecting Test Box Between Instrument Panel and Cable Harness:
- Connect test box between cable harness and instrument panel connector A and B.
- Check ground points, see below.
- Test as per signal specification, column # 3. Signal Specification
Connecting Test Box to Instrument Panel:
- Connect test box to instrument panel connector A and B.
Test as per signal specification, column # 4. Signal Specification
Connecting Test Box to Cable Harness:
Test Box On Cable Harness Dashboard:
- Connect test box to cable harness connector A and B.
Check ground points, see below.
Test as per signal specification, column # 5. Signal Specification
Checking Ground Points:
- Ignition off.
- Switch off anything which might be a load on the battery.
- Connect an ohmmeter between:
- # 15 (# A15) on test box and battery negative terminal.
- # 17 (# A17) on test box and battery negative terminal.
- Ohmmeter should read 0 ohm in both cases.
If reading is correct:
- Go back to fault-tracing where you left off.
If any reading is incorrect:
- Check ground points 31/50 and 31/51 on electrical panel and leads connecting to them for open-circuit and contact resistance.
- Check ground lead between electrical panel and chassis for open-circuit and contact resistance.
