Self Adjustment of Damper Motor Limit Positions

NOTE: If taking a completely new control module from stock, this adjustment is made automatically when test-driving the car. See step "Test Drive Car" below.

Self-Adjustment of Damper Motor Limit Positions - Control Code 9-9-9:
- This adjustment needs to be made after replacing damper motor or for (testing with) a control module which has been in use.
- In self-adjustment, the control module sets the damper motor limit positions by running them to the front and back stops. The control module records the integral position sensor values at the damper motor limit positions and stores this value.

Settings Before Activation:

- Ignition off.
- Blower Switch in Manual position, half power.
- Recirculation on.
- Left and right temperature controls set to 22 °C or 72 °F
- Air flow selector set between Ventilation/Defrost.
- Air Conditioning (A/C) switch on AUTO.
- Activate Test Mode 4. Initializing Test Modes

- Self-adjustment of damper motor limit positions.
- The control module is now ready to carry out self-adjustment of damper motor limit positions.
- Wait approx. 10 seconds to let heater fan start.
- Ignition on. A/C and REC LEDs should flash.
- Go to step below "Test Drive Car".

Check If Control Module Is Ready For Self-adjustment:

- Start test mode 1. Initializing Test Modes
- Read off DTC.
- If DTC 5-1-1 appears, control module is ready to carry out self-adjustment of damper motor limit positions. Go to the step "Test Drive Car" below.
- If DTC 5-1-1 does not appear, starting test mode 4 and entering control code 9-9-9 failed. Go back to the step "Settings before activation" above.

Test Drive Car:

- Drive car for a few minutes at a speed over 30 km/h (20 mph). The control module will then carry out self-adjustment while driving.
- Stop car but leave ignition on for at least two minutes to enable control module to store all values. Go to next step "Check Self-adjustment Is Complete".

Check Self-adjustment Is Complete:

- Ignition on.
- Activate Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM).
- Read off the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

If diagnostic trouble code 1-1-1 is displayed:
- No fault stored. Self-adjustment complete.

If diagnostic trouble codes other than 5-1-1 are displayed:
- If diagnostic trouble code 3-2-1, 3-2-2, 3-2-3, 3-2-4, or 3-2-5 are displayed WITHOUT 5-1-1;
- Erase diagnostic trouble codes. Deleting DTCS
- Ignition on.
- Blower switch in manual position, half power.
- Press the REC switch on the opposite side.
- Turn airflow selector to defroster and wait 20 seconds.
- Turn airflow selector to floor and wait 20 seconds.
- Turn airflow selector to ventilation and wait 20 seconds.
- Turn both temperature controls to maximum heat and wait 20 seconds.
- Turn both temperature controls to maximum cooling and wait 20 seconds.
- Activate DTM (Diagnostic Test Mode).
- Read off the diagnostic trouble code (DTC).
- No fault stored. Self-adjustment complete.
- If a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) is stored, remedy DTCs. Fault Tracing Procedures

If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) 5-1-1 is displayed:
- Self adjustment has not been carried out.
- Go back to Setting Before Activation, above.
- Then activate test mode 4 and check if control module is ready for self adjustment, as described above.

If diagnostic trouble code 5-1-1 is obtained together with other diagnostic trouble codes:
- Self adjustment has not been carried out.
- Remedy DTC 5-1-1 and other DTCs. Fault Tracing Procedures
- Start again with settings as they were before activation (above) and then activate test mode 4.
