Rear Window Wiper Motor (V12)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331/)
When disconnecting and connecting the battery, always perform the work procedure as described in the repair information. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair. Not adhering to sequence will result in the deactivation of Main Battery Switch -E74- and subsequent damage to electrical system components.
Removal
- Remove wiper arm. Refer to => [ Rear Window Wiper ] Rear Window Wiper.
- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the lower rear lid trim panel.
- Disconnect the connector - 3 -.
- Disconnect the windshield washer fluid hose at the hose coupling - 2 -.
- Remove the 3 nuts - arrows - and remove the rear window wiper motor - 1 - from the seal in the rear window.
Installation
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Before installing rear window wiper motor, coat inner side of rear window seal with water-soluble lubricant (for instance, polyethylene glycol) if necessary.
- Make sure the seal for the opening in the rear window fits correctly before installing the rear window wiper motor. Marking - 1 - of seal must align with marking - 2 - on rear window.
- Tighten the nuts - arrows - to the overview given in the overview. Refer to => [ Rear Window Wiper System Overview ] Rear Window Wiper System Overview.
- Install wiper arm. Refer to => [ Rear Window Wiper ] Rear Window Wiper.
