Air Spring Shock Absorber Boot
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)
• Vehicle Diagnostic Tester (VAS 5051B)
Removing
- Remove the wheel.
- Bleed the air spring shock absorber with the (VAS 5051B).
- Remove the air spring shock absorber - 1 - from wheel bearing housing - arrow -.
- Remove the boot from the air spring.
- Tilt the air spring shock absorber inward and remove the boot - 1 - between the wheel bearing housing and the air spring shock absorber - arrow -.
- Check the rolling bellows - 1 - for damage.
The surface must be regular and uniform.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Always make sure the new boot is not damaged before installing it.
• Pay close attention the constriction between the wheel bearing housing and the air spring damper- arrow - when installing the boot - 1 -.
- Engage the boot groove at the shock absorber.
- Fill the air spring shock absorber using the (VAS 5051B).
- Install the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Torque Specification ] [1][2]Specifications.
