Power Steering Pump Assembly






Power Steering Pump Assembly

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamps up to 25 mm (3094)

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Engine Bung Set (VAS 6122)

Removing

- Disconnect the battery ground strap with the ignition off.

Vehicles with an Air Spring Shock Absorber

- Activate the vehicle lift mode and place the vehicle on the lifting platform. Refer to => [ Vehicle Lift Mode ] Description and Operation

Continuation for All Vehicles

- Loosen the wheel bolt.

- Raise the vehicle.

- Remove the wheel.

- Remove the left front wheel housing liner..

- Pinch off the intake hose - 3 - using (3094) - 2 -.






- Open the clamp - 1 - and disconnect the intake hose - 3 - from the connector of the engine pump assembly - 4 -.

- Unplug the connectors - 5 - and - 6 - from the engine pump assembly - 4 -.

- Disconnect the pressure line - 1 - at the connection point - 2 -.






- Loosen but do not unscrew the securing nuts - 1 - at the engine pump assembly - 2 -.






- Remove the engine pump assembly - 2 - from the bracket.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Replace seals and gaskets.

Hose supports and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installation.

Secure all hose connections with new hose clamps. Allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

- Bleed steering system. Refer to => [ Power Steering System, Bleeding ] Service and Repair.

- Check the hydraulic fluid level and fill if necessary. Refer to => Maintenance Procedures 03 Maintenance Procedures.

- Check the steering system for leaks. Refer to => [ Steering System, Checking for Leaks ] Testing and Inspection.

Tightening Specification
