Oil Cooler






Oil Cooler

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamps up to 25 mm diameter (3094)

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)

Removing

For all repair work, especially in the engine compartment due to the tight working conditions, observe the following:

Route lines of all types (for example for fuel, hydraulic, EVAP canister system, coolant and refrigerant, brake fluid, vacuum) and electrical wiring so that the original path is followed.

To prevent damaging the lines, make sure there is enough space for all moving or hot components.

- Remove the front sound insulation.

- Remove the front bumper.

- Clamp off the intake hose and return hose using (3094) - 1 -.






- Open the hose clamps - 1 - and move them to the side.






- Disconnect the intake hose and return hose from the oil cooler.

- Remove the bolt - arrow - for the oil cooler bracket - 2 - and remove the bracket.

- Remove the per cooler module bolts - arrow - on both sides.






- Remove the lower left cooler module bolts - A -.






- Slide the oil cooler - 1 - to the left - in the direction of the arrow - out of the retainers - arrows -.






- Press the cooler module toward the rear while turning the oil cooler so that it can be removed forward through the guide - arrow -.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Note the installation position of the bracket - 1 - on the oil cooler.






The tabs - arrows - on the bracket - 1 - must face forward toward the oil cooler.

- Install the bracket - 1 - using the bolt - 2 -.

- Slide the intake and return hoses onto the bracket - 1 - as far as the stop.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate to the model. Allocation, refer to the Check the hydraulic fluid level and fill if necessary. Allocation, refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

Oil type: Refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

- Check the hydraulic fluid level and fill if necessary.

- Steering system, bleeding and checking for leaks, refer to => [ Power Steering System, Bleeding ] Service and Repair.
