Refrigerant Circuit Components in Engine Compartment, Servicing
Refrigerant Circuit Components in Engine Compartment, Servicing
• Refrigerant must be extracted before hand using Robinair A/C Service Unit (ROB 134APF) with Flush Unit (VAS 6337/1A) or subsequent models.
• Environmentally hazardous draining of refrigerant is an offense punishable by law.
• The previously used service stations can still be used. Refer to V.A.G workshop equipment catalog.
• Safety measures when working on an evacuated refrigerant circuit, refer to => [ A/C Repairs and Handling Refrigerants ] Service Precautions, notes regarding repair work on vehicles with air conditioning and the handling of refrigerant.
• To prevent the entry of dampness all components of the refrigerant circuit which have been opened must be sealed with suitable plugs.
• The color coding of refrigerant circuit O-rings with R134a has been discontinued. Colored and black O-rings are used.
1 Expansion Valve
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Expansion Valve ] Expansion Valve.
2 High Pressure Sensor (G65)
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ High Pressure Sensor (G65) ] Service and Repair.
3 Refrigerant Pipe With Inner Heat Exchanger
• In this refrigerant line, the liquid warm refrigerant flowing on the high pressure side releases energy into the vaporous cold refrigerant flowing on the low pressure side. This increases the efficiency of the A/C system and minimizes fuel consumption.
4 Evacuating and Charging Valve
• High pressure side.
• Environmentally hazardous draining of refrigerant is an offense punishable by law.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Evacuating and Charging Valve, Low and High Pressure Side ] Evacuating and Charging Valve, Low and High Pressure Side.
5 Evacuating and Charging Valve
• Low pressure side.
• Environmentally hazardous draining of refrigerant is an offense punishable by law.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Evacuating and Charging Valve, Low and High Pressure Side ] Evacuating and Charging Valve, Low and High Pressure Side.
6 A/C Compressor
• Pay attention to notes for installing A/C compressor. Refer to => [ A/C Compressor Replacement Information ] Description and Operation.
• Removing and installing, refer to TDI => [ A/C Compressor ] Service and Repair, 3.6L => [ A/C Compressor ] Service and Repair or Hybrid => [ A/C Compressor ] Service and Repair.
7 Condenser
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Condenser ] Condenser.
8 Fluid Reservoir With Dryer Cartridge
• Under certain conditions, the dryer cartridge should no longer be replaced each time the refrigerant circuit is opened.
• Dryer cartridge, removing, refer to => [ Dryer Cartridge ] Dryer Cartridge.
