Crankshaft Seal, Belt Pulley Side

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Oil Seal Extractor (T40019)

Assembly Device (T40048)

Removing

- Remove the ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.

- Remove the vibration damper.

- Place the inner part of the oil seal extractor (T40019) flush with the outer part and secure it using the knurled thumb screw.






- Lubricate the threaded head of the seal extractor, place it against the seal, and with strong force, screw it into the seal as far as possible.

- Loosen the knurled thumb screw and turn the inner portion against the crankshaft until the seal is pulled out.

- Secure the seal extractor on the flat spots in a vice. Remove the seal using pliers

- Clean the running and sealing surfaces.

Installing

- Insert the assembly device (T40048/1) into the pull sleeve (T40048/2) and slide the seal - 1 - onto the pull sleeve.






- Remove the assembly device.

- Place the pull sleeve (T40048/2) on the crankshaft and slide the seal - 1 - into sealing surface on the engine.






The pull sleeve (T40048/2) remains on the crankshaft during installation.

- Install the assembly adapter (T40048/4) (installed depth: 5 mm) onto the crankshaft using two M8 x 55 mm bolts - arrows -.






- Install the bolts hand tight.

- Then, tighten the bolts each a 1/2 turn alternating sides to press in the seal until it is seated.

- Install the vibration damper.

- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.
