Camshaft Oil Seal: Service and Repair

Camshaft Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Seal Puller - General Usage (2085)

• Retainer (3036)

• M10 x 1.25 x 40 Bolt from Seal Installer (3241)

• Assembly Tool (T10053)

• Puller (T10320)

Removing

- Remove the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.

- Loosen the clips - arrows -.






- Tilt the toothed belt guard forward and disengage the pins on the bottom side of it.

- Loosen the tensioner bolt - arrow - approximately two turns.






- Using the retainer (3036) , loosen the center bolt - 1 - for the toothed belt pulley approximately two turns.






- Remove the toothed belt pulley using the puller (T10320).






- Remove the toothed belt pulley with the toothed belt.

- Turn the inner part of the seal puller - general usage (2085) 3 turns from the outer part and lock it using the knurled thumb screw.






- Lubricate the threaded head of the seal puller, place it against the seal, and with strong force screw it into the seal as far as possible.

- Loosen the knurled thumb screw and turn the inner part against the camshaft until the seal is removed.

- Install the seal puller in a vice on the mounting points and remove the seal using pliers.

- Clean the running and sealing surfaces.

Installing

- Install the new seal until seated using the thrust sleeve taken from assembly tool (T10053). Use the M10 x 1.25 x 40 bolt - arrow - from the seal installer (3241).






Further installation is in the reverse order of removal, paying attention to the following:

- Install the high pressure pump toothed belt. Refer to => [ High Pressure Fuel Pump Toothed Belt ] High Pressure Fuel Pump Toothed Belt.
