Coolant Thermostat
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6340)
Removing
- Remove the noise insulation.
- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Coolant, Draining and Filling ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the thermostat cover bolts - arrows - and then remove the cover with coolant hose.
- Remove the coolant thermostat from the coolant pipe.
Installing
• There must be a metal sleeve - arrow - inside the thermostat cover. Replace the thermostat cover if the metal sleeve is missing.
- Clean the seal surface.
- Install the coolant thermostat into the coolant pipe.
• Installed position: The edges on the coolant thermostat and housing must align - arrows -.
- Coat the new seal with coolant and install it into the thermostat housing.
- Install the thermostat cover and seal and tighten the bolts in a diagonal sequence.
Tightening specification: 5 Nm.
- Fill the coolant. Refer to => [ Coolant, Draining and Filling ] Service and Repair.
- Install the noise insulation.
