Hood Latch







Hood Latch

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removing






Perform the following:

- Open the hood.

- Remove radiator grille. Refer to => [ Door Lock ] Door Lock.

- Disconnect the cable - 2 - at the cable coupling. Refer to => [ Hood Cable, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Hood Cable, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Disconnect the connector from the engine hood contact switch (F266) (if equipped).

- Remove the bolts - 4 - from the lock carrier and the hood latch - 1 - - arrow a -.

- Guide the engine hood contact switch (F266) wire (if equipped) out of the lock carrier.

- Press the tabs - arrows b - and remove the retainer - 3 -.

- Remove the cable - 2 - from the hood latch - 1 - - arrow c -.

Installation






Perform the following:

- Attach the cable - 2 - to the hood latch - 1 - - arrow a - and then clip the bracket - 3 - into the hood latch - 1 - - arrow b -.

- Guide the engine hood contact switch (F266) wire (if equipped) back into the lock carrier.

- Install the hood latch - 1 - in the lock carrier - arrow c -.

- Install the bolts - 4 -.

Tightening specification - 4 -: 12 Nm

- Connect the connector to the engine hood contact switch (F266) , (if equipped).

- Connect the cable - 2 - at the cable coupling. Refer to => [ Hood Cable, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Hood Cable, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Adjust the hood latch. Refer to => [ Hood Latch, Adjusting ] Hood Latch, Adjusting.

- Install the radiator grille. Refer to => [ Door Lock ] Door Lock.

Before closing the hood, make sure the hood release lever and the cable are working correctly.
