Shifter M/T: Adjustments






Shift Mechanism, Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Connecting Pin (T10027 A)

Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

The following is important to make sure the shift adjustment is correct:

Operating and transfer elements of the shift mechanism must be in proper working condition.

The shift mechanism must move freely.

The transmission, clutch and clutch mechanism must also be in proper working condition.

The transmission is in neutral.

- Remove the engine cover with air filter.

- Pull the locking mechanism on the cable retainers for the shift and selector cables all the way forward in the - direction of arrow 1 - and then lock them to the left in the - direction of arrow 2 -.






The cables must slide in the cable retainer.

The transmission is still in neutral.

Secure the gear shift shaft as follows:






- Push the gear shift shaft down in the - direction of arrow 1 -.

- While pressing the gear shift shaft down, rotate the locking pin - A - in the - direction of arrow 2 - upward and simultaneously press it in until it engages in the gear shift shaft.

- Carefully unclip the boot and frame - B - from the center console using the trim removal wedge (3409).






- Fold the boot and frame upward over the shift knob - A -.

Secure the shift lever as follows:






- Move the shift lever into neutral.

- Guide the connecting pin (T10027 A) through hole - A - and into hole - B -.

Make sure the selector and shift cables - B - are inserted into the retainers - A - without tension.






- Turn the locking mechanisms on the cable retainers for the shift and selector cables all the way to the right in the - direction of arrow 1 -.

The spring will push the locking mechanism into the starting position in the - direction of arrow 2 -.

- Then, turn the locking pin - A - in the - direction of the arrow - back into it starting position.






The locking pin - A - must be pressed out of the gear shift unit as far as the stop and it must face toward the rear.






- Pull the connecting pin (T 10027 A) out of the holes - A and B -.






- Carefully install the boot and frame. Refer to => [ Shift Knob and Frame Overview ] Shift Knob and Frame Overview.

- Make sure the shift lever moves easily.

- Install the engine cover with air filter.
