Rear Brake Cable






Rear Brake Cable

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Ring spanner insert AF 21 (T10347)

Removing:

- Loosen the wheel bolts.

- Raise the vehicle.

- Remove the wheel.

- Loosen the parking brake lever.

Parking brake lever in released position.

- Press the lever - 2 - located on the brake caliper in - direction of arrow - and disengage the brake cable - 1 -.






- Squeeze the tabs - 3 - and remove the brake cable from the bracket - 4 - on the brake caliper.

- Open the cover on the rear storage compartment inside the center console.

- Remove the liner from the storage compartment.

- Release the tabs - arrows - and open the service flap - 1 -.






- Disconnect the brake cable - 3 - from the compensator bracket on the quick adjustor - 2 -.






- Pull the brake cable - 1 - out of the retainer - arrow A - on the bracket - 2 -.






- Pull the brake cable - 1 - in - direction of arrow -out of the guide - arrow B - on the bracket - 2 -.

- Disengage the brake cable - 1 - from the bracket - 2 - and pull it from the guide tube - 3 -.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Slide the brake cable - 1 - into the guide tube - 3 - and engage it in the bracket - 2 -.






Attach the brake cable to at the marking on the cable.

- Attach the brake cable - 3 - to the compensator bracket on the quick adjustor - 2 -.






- Insert the brake cable - 1 - into the guide - arrow B - on the bracket - 2 - opposite the - direction of arrow -.






- Clip the brake cable - 1 - back into the retainer - arrow A - on the bracket - 2 -.

- Push the brake cable - 1 - through the bracket - 4 - on the brake caliper until both tabs - 3 - engage.






- Press the lever - 2 - located on the brake caliper in - direction of arrow - and engage the brake cable - 1 -.

The brake cable must be installed without tension between the bracket on the brake caliper and the bracket on the rear axle.
