Input Shaft Overview
• Heat the gears to approximately 100 °C (212 °F) using the inductive heat unit (VAS 6414) or equivalent. Wear protective gloves.
• Install all input shaft bearings using transmission fluid.
• Always replace the grooved ball bearing - item 4 -.
1 Lock Ring
• For the grooved ball bearing - item 4 -.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Transmission ] Transmission.
2 Transmission Housing
3 Lock Ring
• Select when replacing the grooved ball bearing - item 4 - and the input shaft - item 6 -. Refer to => [ Selecting the lock ring ] Input Shaft.
4 Grooved Ball Bearing
• Always replace.
• Removing, refer to => [ Removing the grooved ball bearing ] Input Shaft.
• Installed position, refer to => [ Grooved ball bearing installed position ] Input Shaft.
• Installing, refer to => [ Installing the grooved ball bearing ] Input Shaft.
5 5th Gear
• Available as a replacement part together with the input shaft.
• Removing, refer to => [ Removing the 5th gear ] Input Shaft.
• Installed position: The surrounding groove - arrow - faces the grooved ball bearing - item 4 -.
• Installing, refer to => [ Heat the 5th gear and install it. ] Input Shaft.
6 Input Shaft
• With the 3rd, 4th and 6th gears.
7 Cylindrical Roller Bearing
• With a lock ring.
• Removing, refer to => [ Removing the cylindrical roller bearing from the clutch housing ] Input Shaft.
• Installing, refer to => [ Pressing the cylindrical roller bearing into clutch housing. ] Input Shaft.
• Installed position: The lock ring inside the bearing faces the input shaft.
