Fuel Supply Line: Description and Operation
Fuel Hoses Inside Engine Compartment
• The connections for the fuel hoses to the fuel filter - 1 - and fuel temperature sensor - 2 - have a 2 wave profile - arrows - and a biting edge. This seals the fuel systems better.
• The very thin locking layer of the inside of the fuel hoses gets damaged when removing the fuel hoses.
• It is not possible to see this damage. After sometime the fuel system will start to leak.
• If other components are only being removed: see if it is absolutely necessary to separate the fuel system at components having the wave profile and biting edge.
• Use other connection locations on the fuel system inside the engine compartment.
• If fuel hoses having a 2 wave profile and biting edge connection are removed, then they must be replaced.
If a fuel hose cannot be removed by hand from the hose connection:
Never insert a screwdriver or similar tool between the hose and the hose connection.
• Danger of causing damage to the connection, the part must be replaced.
- Twist the fuel hose with pliers and remove the hose.
If it is still not possible to remove the fuel hose from the hose connection:
- Cut along the fuel hose only up to the cloth layer and the remove the hose.
• Do not cut through the inner rubber layer. The entire part must be replaced if the connection gets damaged.
• Clean the hose connection thoroughly of grease, oil and dirt before connecting the new fuel hose. Do not use any metal tools that could damaged the hose connection.
• Attach the fuel hose to the connection without using any grease and secure it with a spring clamp.
