Camshaft Radial Clearance, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Plastigage(R)

Procedure

- Remove the roller rocker arm.

- Clean the bearing and the bearing journals.

- Place the Plastigage(R) over the entire width of the bearing journal or into the bearing cap.

• The Plastigage(R) must rest in the center of the bearing.

- Install the guide frame and tighten the bolts to 10 Nm, refer to => [ Guide Frame Bolt Tightening Sequence and Specification ] Service and Repair. Do not rotate the camshaft.

- Remove the guide frame.

- Compare the width of the Plastigage(R) with the calibrated scale.

• Radial clearance: 0.035 to 0.085 mm.
