Radiator, for Charged Air Cooler Circuit

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Refractometer (T10007)

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331/)

Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6340)

The coolant system is under pressure when the engine is warm.

Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.

Reduce pressure by covering coolant reservoir cap with a cloth and carefully opening.

Hoses are secured with spring-type clips. In cases of repair only use spring-type clips.

Hose clip pliers (VAS 6340) are recommended for installing spring-type clamps.

When installing coolant hoses, make sure they are free of stress and do not come into contact with other components (observe markings on coolant connections and hoses).

Removing

- Remove the noise insulation.

- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Procedures.

- Remove the fan shroud with the fans. Refer to => [ Fan Shroud with Fan ] Fan Shroud with Fan.

- Remove the radiator. Refer to => [ Radiator ] Radiator.

- Remove the front bumper cover.

- Drain the coolant from the charge air system by disconnecting the coolant hose - arrow - from the lower connection point for the coolant auxiliary cooler.






- Remove the hose - 1 - by releasing the clip - arrow -.






- Remove the bolts - arrows - from the lock carrier.






- Remove the Air Conditioning (A/C) condenser bolts - arrows -.






- Secure the A/C condenser to the lock carrier.

Ensure that the coolant lines and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.

- Remove the radiator for the charged air coolant circuit from the bracket.

- Remove the radiator for the charged air coolant circuit downward.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:

- Fill the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Procedures.

- Observe the electrical connections and routing.

Tightening Specifications
