Stabilizer Bar






Stabilizer Bar

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench 40-200 Nm (V.A.G 1332)

Engine/Gearbox Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)

Removing

- Loosen the wheel bolts.

- Raise the vehicle.

- Remove the front wheels.

- Remove the lower noise insulation.

- Remove the right and left nuts - 1 - from the coupling rods - 3 -.






- Remove the right and left coupling rods - 3 - from the stabilizer bar - 2 -.

- Remove exhaust system bracket from subframe - arrows -.






- Loosen the double clamp for the exhaust system.

- Remove the stabilizer from subframe - 7 - and - 8 -.






Vehicles with Hydraulic Power Steering Gear






- Remove the bolts - 9 - and - 10 - from the steering gear.

Vehicles with Electromechanical Steering Gear






- Remove the bolts - 9 - and - 10 - from the steering gear.

Continuation for All Vehicles

- Remove pendulum support from transmission, unscrew bolts - 11 - to do so.






- Subframe, locating, refer to => [ Subframe, Securing ] Subframe, Securing.

- Move the (V.A.G 1383 A) - 1 - under the subframe.






- Remove the bolts - 5 - and - 6 - and lower the subframe maximum 10 cm.






- Remove the stabilizer bar to the rear.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

The steering gear threaded sleeves must be seated in the subframe holes on the left side.

- Remove the lower noise insulation.

- Install front wheels and tighten. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification ] [1][2]Specifications.

- After installing, perform the basic setting on the Steering Angle Sensor (G85) using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
