Radiator: Service and Repair
Radiator
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Drip Tray (V.A.G 1306) or Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6362)
Removing
- Remove the fan shroud. Refer to => [ Fan Shroud and Fans ] Service and Repair.
- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Procedures.
- Open the spring clamps - arrows - and remove the coolant hoses from the radiator.
- Remove the front bumper cover.
To prevent damage to the Air Conditioning (A/C) condenser and the refrigerant lines, do not stretch, kink or bend the lines and hoses.
- Remove the air guides - 3 - at the bottom.
- Remove the bolts - 1 - from the condenser.
- Remove the bolts - 2 - from the radiator mounts.
- Push the radiator to the rear and remove the radiator mounts => [ (Item 9) Mount ] Cooling System Components Overview, Body Side.
- Remove the radiator from its supports => [ (Item 10) Support ] Cooling System Components Overview, Body Side in the lock carrier.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:
- Fill the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Procedures.
