Clutch Release Bearing: Service and Repair






Clutch Slave Cylinder with Release Bearing

The clutch slave cylinder and the release bearing are a single unit and are replaced together.

Requirement

The transmission is removed.

Removing

- Pull up the clip - 2 - with a screwdriver or a pointed tool and remove the breather assembly - 4 - from the slave cylinder - 1 -.






- Remove the bolts - arrows -.






- Remove the clutch slave cylinder and the release bearing - A -.

Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

The slave cylinder bolts may only be tightened in small increments.

Otherwise, there is the danger that the bolt tabs could break off.

- Tighten the slave cylinder with release bearing bolts to specification, see - item 4 - in the => [ Clutch Release Mechanism Overview ] Description and Operation.

- Check the O-ring - 3 - on the clutch slave cylinder for damage.






- Install the breather assembly - 4 - to the connection on the clutch slave cylinder - 1 - until the clip - 2 - clicks into the place.

- To check, pull on the breather assembly.

Install the transmission.

- Bleed the clutch system. Refer to => [ Clutch System, Bleeding ] Procedures.
