Mounting Bracket

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamps up to 25 mm Dia. (3094)

Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6362)

Sealing Tool (T10249)

Removing

- First, check whether a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain the anti-theft code.

- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable.

- Remove the entire air filter housing, if it is located near the battery.

- Remove the battery and the battery tray.

While performing the following procedure, make sure no brake fluid comes into contact with the longitudinal member or the transmission. If it does, clean the area thoroughly.

Place a lint free cloth under the master cylinder.

- Clamp off the supply hose to the master cylinder using a hose clamp up to 25 mm dia. (3094).






- Loosen the spring clamp - 3 - using the hose clip pliers (VAS 6362) and remove the supply hose from the master cylinder.






- Moreover, for disconnecting, seal it using the sealing tool (T10249/1) (see top illustration).

- Pull out the clip - 2 - with a screwdriver or pointed tool and remove the hose/line assembly or pipe - 1 - from the clutch master cylinder.

- Unclip the clutch position sensor from the master cylinder - arrow - and remove it with the connector - 4 - still connected.

When working in the floor area, cover the carpet with a cloth to protect against any leaking brake fluid.

- Remove the trim and the cover under the trim on the driver side.

- Remove the wire guide - 2 - from the steering column.






- Remove the foot well vent - 3 -.

There are different ways of securing the impact bolster support - 1 - in front of the clutch pedal - 2 -.






Secured with Two Bolts

- Remove the impact bolster support bolts and support - 1 -.

Secured with One Bolt






- Remove the impact bolster support bolt - 2 - and support - 1 -.

Continuation for All

- Remove the sound absorber - arrow - from the clutch pedal bracket, if equipped.






- Remove the sound absorber retainers - A -.






- Remove the sound absorber.

- Push the sound absorber near the upper nut - 1 - above the clutch pedal - A - in the - direction of the arrow -.






- Remove the nuts - 1 and 2 -.






The upper nut - 1 - is accessible between the relay carrier and steering column trim.

- Remove the bracket - 3 -.

Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Replace the self-locking nuts.

Replace the hose clamps

Refer to the Parts Catalog.

Some vehicles have a sound absorber - arrow - on the clutch pedal bracket.






There are different ways of securing the impact bolster support - 1 - in front of the clutch pedal - 2 -.






Secured with Two Bolts

- Install the impact bolster support - 1 - and tighten the 2 bolts to specification.

Secured with One Bolt






- Install the impact bolster support - 1 - and tighten the bolt - 2 - to specification.

Continuation for All

- Install the wire guide - 2 - to the steering column.






- Install the foot well vent - 3 -.

- Install the trim and the cover under the trim on the driver side.

- Install the hose/line assembly or pipe - 1 - with the seal - 2 - into the clutch master cylinder connection - 4 - until the clip - 3 - audibly engages.






- Pull on the hose/line or pipe to make sure it is secure.

- After removing the hose clamp up to 25 mm dia. (3094) , bring the supply hose back to its original shape.

- Bleed the clutch system. Refer to => [ Clutch System, Bleeding ] Procedures.

- Install the battery tray and the battery.

- Install the entire air filter housing, if it is located near the battery.

- Connect the battery and follow the steps after connecting the battery.
