Wheel Bearing Housing Bonded Rubber Bushing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Press Support (30 - 506 B)
• Mounting Universal Joint (41-501)
• Sleeve (3160)
• Assembly Tool (3301)
• Assembly Tool (3346)
• Assembly Tool (3350)
• Torque Wrench 40-200 Nm (V.A.G 1332)
Removing
- Loosen the wheel bolts.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the wheel.
- Remove coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.
- Remove wheel bearing/wheel hub unit. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub ] Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub.
- Remove bolt - arrow - for lower transverse link - 1 -.
Pressing Out Bonded Rubber Bushing
- Mount the tools as shown in the illustration.

- Rotate the spindle to remove the bonded rubber bushing.
Installing
Pulling In Bonded Rubber Bushing
- Mount the tools as shown in the illustration.

- Rotate the spindle to install the bonded rubber bushing.
• Do not use lubricant!
• Insert the bearing carefully so that it is not tilted.
- Install the cover plate.
- Install the wheel bearing/wheel hub unit. Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub ] Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub.
• Only tighten the bolted connections on the wheel bearing housing when the dimension "a" is reached! Refer to => [ Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Rear Suspension.
- Tighten bolt - arrow - for lower transverse link - 1 -.
- Install coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.
- Install the brake disc.
- Install brake carrier with brake caliper.
- Install the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification ] [1][2]Specifications.
