Axle Beam Bonded Rubber Bushing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Assembly Tool (T10205)
• Assembly Tool (T10230)
• Assembly Tool (T10254)
• Torque Wrench 40-200 Nm (V.A.G 1332)
• Engine/Gearbox Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)
• Spring Compressor Kit (V.A.G 1752)
• Spring Holder (V.A.G 1752/3A)
• Hydraulic Press (VAS 6178)
• Pneumatic/Hydraulic Foot Pump (VAS 6179)
Removing
- Install the (V.A.G 1752/1) - 1 -.

Be sure coil spring is properly seated in (V.A.G 1752/3A) - 2 - (risk of accident).
- Tension the coil spring - 2 - and remove it.
• Use a wrench or a reversible ratchet to tighten the spring compressor.
- Move the (V.A.G 1383 A) under the axle beam.
- Raise vehicle to installation height.
- Remove wheels.
- Remove the rivet inner pin - arrow - and remove the bracket - 1 -.
- Place (V.A.G 1383 A) underneath.
- Secure the rear axle with a strap or something similar when lowering or removing it.
- Mark the position of the bolts - arrows - on the bracket on the right side of the vehicle.
- Loosen the threaded connection - 1 -.
- Remove bolts - Arrows -.
- Lower the axle beam and remove the bolt - 1 - and the bracket.
- Remove the bolt - 1 - from the axle beam on the left side of the vehicle.
- Lower rear axle using (V.A.G 1383 A).
- Mount the special tools as illustrated.

- Activate the pump and remove the bonded rubber bushing.
Installing
Installation position of bonded rubber mounting inside the axle beam.
• The tabs - 1 - on the bonded rubber bushing must vertically point up or down.
• The openings - arrows - must be aligned longitudinally with the vehicle.
- Mount the bonded rubber bushing and the special tools on the rear axle.

- Install the bonded rubber bushing.
- Check the installed position of the bonded rubber bushing.
• The tabs - 1 - on the bonded rubber bushing must vertically point up or down.
• The openings - arrows - must be aligned longitudinally with the vehicle.
- Tighten the rear axle in its curb weight position. Refer to => [ Rear Axle, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Rear Suspension.
Further installation is in the reverse sequence to removal.
- Install wheels and tighten. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification ] [1][2]Specifications.
