Side Upholstery with Side Airbag

• Removal and installation is described for right side upholstery. The same instructions apply for removal and installation for the left side upholstery.

Removing


Always read the General Safety Precautions before working on airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units (pyrotechnical components).

- Disconnect the battery.

- Remove the rear bench seat. Refer to => [ Bench Seat ] Bench Seat.

- Remove the nut - 3 - (8 Nm).

- Fold the backrest forward.

- Remove the side cushion with the side airbag - 1 - from the mounts - 2 - and - 4 -.


Electrostatic discharges can lead to unintended deployment of the airbag. Therefore, mechanic must electrostatic discharge him-/herself before disconnecting harness connector. This is done, for example, by briefly grasping the chassis or door striker.

- Disconnect the wiring harness from the side airbag and remove the side cushion with the side airbag - 1 - from the vehicle.






Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal.

- Turn on the ignition.


Make sure no one is in the vehicle.

- Connect the battery.
