Driver and Passenger Side Airbag

• The following describes removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.

Removing


Always read the General Safety Precautions before working on airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units (pyrotechnical components). Refer to => [ Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, General Safety Precautions ] Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units, General Safety Precautions.

- Disconnect the battery.

- Remove left front seat => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat.

- Remove right trim on seat:

• Seat without folding backrest => [ Right Seat Trim ] Right Seat Trim.

• Seat with folding backrest => [ Left Folding Passenger Seat Trim ] Left Folding Passenger Seat Trim.

Vehicles with manual seat adjustment

- Remove left trim on seat:

• Seat without folding backrest => [ Left Seat Trim ] Left Seat Trim.

• Seat with folding backrest => [ Left and Right Folding Passenger Seat Trim ] Left and Right Folding Passenger Seat Trim.

Vehicles with electric seat adjustment

- Remove left power seat trim => [ Power Seat Trim, Left ] Power Seat Trim, Left.

All vehicles

- Remove front seat backrest => [ Left Front Seat Backrest ] Left Front Seat Backrest.

- Remove the front seat backrest covers and cushions => [ Front Seat Backrest Cover and Upholstery ] Front Seat Backrest Cover and Upholstery.

- Separate wiring harness - 1 - from backrest frame.

- Remove the bolt - 2 - (9 Nm).

- Remove side airbag - 3 - from mounting in backrest frame.






Installing

- Install in reverse order of removal.

- Switch on ignition.


Make sure no one is in the vehicle.

- Connect vehicle battery.
