Oil Line: Service and Repair

Oil Supply Line to Turbocharger

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Socket (T40055)

• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

- Remove the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.

- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to => [ Air Filter Housing ] Air Filter Housing.

- Remove the intake tube between the Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor and intake duct. Loosen the hose clamps using hose clip pliers (VAS 6362).

- Remove the intake scoop.

- Remove the warm air collector plate.

- Remove the connecting pipe between the exhaust manifold and intake manifold.

- Remove the charge air pipe.

- Remove the clamp - arrow - on the back of the cylinder head.






- Loosen the union nuts on the oil filter bracket and turbocharger with socket (T40055).

- Remove the oil supply line clamp bolt - arrow - at the side of the cylinder head.






- Remove the oil supply line.

Installing

- Check the oil supply line to make sure it is not clogged.

- Fill the turbocharger with engine oil at the oil supply line connection.

The additional numbered steps must be followed to ensure the oil supply line is installed correctly

- Set the union nuts of the oil supply line onto the connections.

- Tighten the union nut on the oil filter bracket by hand.

- Tighten the union nut on the turbocharger by hand.

- First, tighten the union nut on the oil filter bracket and then the one on the turbocharger using socket (T40055).

- Position the clamps and tighten the bolt or nut:

• Tightening specification: 10 Nm.

The rest of the installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:


Make sure the connecting pipe coupling element does not bend or stretch. Cracks could develop.

• Replace the connecting pipe between the exhaust manifold and intake manifold after removing.

- Install the connecting pipe between the exhaust manifold and intake manifold.

- Install the warm air collector plate.

- Install the intake scoop.

- Install the charge air tube.

- Install the intake tube between the MAF sensor and intake duct. Refer to => [ Air Filter Housing Overview ] Air Filter Housing Overview.

- Install the air filter housing. Refer to => [ Air Filter Housing ] Air Filter Housing.

- Install the engine cover. Refer to => [ Engine Cover ] Engine Cover.
