Intercooler: Service and Repair
Charge Air Cooler Component Overview
• Follow the safety precautions when working on the charge air system and turbocharger. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Safety Precautions.
• Observe the rules for cleanliness. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
Always follow these instructions before and during work.
1 Bolt
• 5 Nm
2 Mount
• For the charge air cooler.
3 Charge Air Cooler
• To remove, move the lock carrier into the service position. Procedures
4 Charge Air Hose
• Cold side, bottom.
• Ensure the hose is seated securely.
• Replace the gasket if it is damaged or if it leaks.
• Charge air cooler hose disconnecting and connecting. Refer to => [ Charge Air Cooler Hose, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.
5 Clamp
• 5 Nm
6 to the Throttle Valve Control Module (J338)
7 Charge Air Hose
• Cold side, top
• Ensure the hose is seated securely.
8 Charge Air Pressure Sensor (G31)
• With the intake air temperature sensor.
9 Bolt
• 3 Nm
10 Rubber Grommet
• Replace if damaged.
11 Bolt
• 8 Nm
12 Charge Air Pipe
• Cold side.
13 Charge Air Hose
• Hot side, top
• Ensure the hose is seated securely.
14 from the Turbocharger
15 Charge Air Pipe
• Hot side.
16 Charge Air Hose
• Hot side, bottom.
• Ensure the hose is seated securely.
• Replace the gasket if it is damaged or if it leaks.
• Charge air hose connecting and disconnecting. Refer to => [ Charge Air Cooler Hose, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.
