Fuel Supply
Clean Working Conditions
When working on the fuel supply/injection system, pay careful attention to the following "7 rules" of cleanliness:
• Thoroughly clean all connections and the surrounding area before disconnecting.
• Place parts that have been removed on a clean surface and cover them using lint free cloths.
• Carefully cover or seal, opened components if repairs are not performed immediately.
• Install only clean parts: remove the replacement parts from their packaging just before installing them. Do not use parts that have been stored loose (for example, in a tool box, etc.).
• Supplied transport and protective packaging and sealing covers should only be removed immediately before installing.
• When the fuel system is open: avoid working with compressed air if possible. Do not move the vehicle unless absolutely necessary.
• In addition, do not let diesel fuel leak onto the coolant hoses. If necessary, the hoses must be wiped immediately. Replace any corroded hoses.
