Clean Working Conditions

When working on the fuel supply/injection system, pay careful attention to the following "7 rules" of cleanliness:

• Thoroughly clean all connections and the surrounding areas before disconnecting.

• Place parts that have been removed on a clean surface and cover them using lint free cloths.

• Carefully cover or seal opened components, if repairs are not performed immediately.

• Install only clean parts, remove the replacement parts from their packaging just before installing them. Do not use parts that have been stored loose (for example, in a tool box, etc.).

• Transport and protective packaging and sealing caps are to be removed only immediately prior to installation.

• When the fuel system is open: avoid working with compressed air if possible. Do not move the vehicle unless absolutely necessary.

• In addition, do not allow diesel fuel to leak onto the coolant hoses. If necessary, the hoses must be wiped off immediately. Replace any corroded hoses.
