Water Pump: Service and Repair

Coolant Pump

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Refractometer (T10007)

• Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)

• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

• Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6362)

Removing

- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Draining and Filling.

- Remove the toothed belt. Refer to => [ Toothed Belt ] Toothed Belt.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - from the coolant pump - 2 - and carefully remove the coolant pump.






Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:

• Always replace seals, sealing rings and O-rings.

- Lubricate the new O-ring - 3 - with coolant.






- Insert the coolant pump - 2 - in the cylinder block and tighten the bolts - 1 -.

• Tightening specification: 40 Nm.

• The sealing plug of the coolant pump faces downward.

- Install and tension the toothed belt. Refer to => [ Toothed Belt ] Toothed Belt.

- Fill with coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Draining and Filling.
