Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair






EVAP Canister

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine-/Gearbox Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)

Removing

- Remove the center and rear mufflers.

- Remove the heat shield retainers - arrows - and shield.






- Place the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) under the rear subframe for support.

- Loosen the rear subframe bolts - arrows - and lower it approximately 20 mm.






- Slowly lower the rear subframe using the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A).

- Press the release button and remove the vent line - A -.






- Remove the bolts - B -.

- Open the tabs with a screwdriver - A -. Turn the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister approximately 90° to the right - B - and then remove it.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Attach the vent lines so that it audibly latches.

- Install the rear subframe.
