Fluid Reservoir
Fluid Reservoir
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331) (5 to 50 Nm)
• ROB 134APF or succeeding model.
• Workshop Hoist (VAS 6100)
• Lifting Tackle (2024A)
• Under certain conditions, fluid reservoir with dryer is no longer to be replaced after each time the refrigerant circuit is opened.
• There are different versions of the condenser and reservoir. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
Removing
- When working on the refrigerant circuit, note the information, refer to => [ Refrigerant Circuit, Specialized Repairs ] Procedures.
• See notes, refer to => [ Refrigerant Circuit System Overview ] Refrigerant Circuit System Overview.
• Refrigerant must be extracted before hand using ROB 134APF.
• The previously used service stations can still be used. Refer to workshop equipment catalog.
• To prevent the ingress of dampness all components of the refrigerant circuit which have been opened must be sealed with suitable plugs.
- Extract refrigerant using ROB 134APF , only then open the refrigerant circuit.
- Remove, depending on the charge air system engine components.
- Move the lock carrier into the service position. Procedures
- Remove the radiator mounting bolts (7 Nm) - arrows -.
- Hang cooler on (VAS 6100) and (2024 A) using workshop equipment (cable ties or welding wire) and unhook cooler from lock carrier, coolant hoses and refrigerant lines remain connected.
- Remove the bolt - 2 - and the clamp.
Danger due to refrigerant coming out under pressure.
Danger of frost bite to skin and other parts of the body.
• Extract the refrigerant and immediately open the refrigerant circuit after that.
• If the refrigerant was extracted more than 10 minutes in the past and the refrigerant circuit was not opened, extract the refrigerant again. Pressure in the refrigerant circuit is caused by evaporation.
- Remove bolts - 1 - and pull fluid reservoir with dryer upward and out.
• Depending on condenser, bolt - 1 - may also only be installed once.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this, note the following:
- First tighten the bolts - 1 - (4.2 Nm +/- 0.7 Nm) and then the bolt - 2 -.
• When installing cooler, ensure that sealing strips are seated correctly on cooler.
