Removal and Replacement

Exhaust System Overview

The coupling element in the exhaust pipe with catalytic converter must not be bent more than 10°, otherwise it may be damaged.

Gaskets and self-locking nuts must be replaced.

After exhaust system repairs, make sure the exhaust system is not under stress and is far enough from the body. If necessary, loosen the clamping sleeve and align the muffler and exhaust pipe so that there is adequate distance to the body and that the weight is evenly distributed among the suspended mounts.

The exhaust manifold and turbocharger are one component removing and installing. Refer to => [ Turbocharger ] Turbocharger.

1 Nut

40 Nm

Always replace

Coat the stud bolts on the exhaust manifold with hot bolt paste (G 052 112 A3).

2 Heated Oxygen Sensor (G39)

55 Nm

Bank 1, sensor 1

Only use hot bolt paste (G 052 112 A3) to grease the threads, do not let the paste get onto the slits of the oxygen sensor body.
