Front Brake Caliper Piston, FNR-G
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)
• Piston Resetting Tool (T 10145)
• Disk (T10146/6) from Assembly Tool (T10146)
Removing
- Remove the bleed valve.
• Place a wooden block in the brake caliper to prevent damaging the piston.
- Push the piston out of the brake caliper using a compressed air gun - arrow -.
- Remove the protective cap from the brake caliper using the trim removal wedge (3409).
- Remove the seal using the trim removal wedge (3409).
• When removing the seal. make sure that the surface of the cylinder is not damaged.
Installing
• The surface of the piston and seal must only be cleaned with mineral spirits and then dried.
- Apply a thin coat of lithium grease (G 052 150 A2) to the piston and the seal before installing.
- Install the seal - arrow - in the brake caliper.
- Install the protective cap - A - into the disk (T10146/6) - 1 -.
- Press in the protective cap with the disk - 1 - and the piston resetting tool (T10145) - 2 - into the brake caliper so that it contacts the brake caliper completely.
Check the seating of the protective cap.
- The protective cap must no longer be able to be pulled from the brake caliper by hand.
- Lightly press the piston against the cap with an extension and adapter - 1 -. Hold the piston in this position.
• The piston must not be at an angle to prevent damaging the sealing boot.
- Install the protective cap on with compressed air (Max. 3 bar). - 2 -. The protective cap springs onto the piston.
- Press the piston into the brake caliper by hand. Possibly push back slightly using the piston resetting tool (T 10145).
The outer sealing lip on the cap will fit into the groove on the piston.
- Install the bleed valve.
