Radio Units and Radio Navigation

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

• Use the chapter for the individual unit when removing and installing:

Radio system RCD 310, refer to => [ RCD 310 Sound System, Electronic Antitheft System ] RCD 310 Sound System, Electronic Antitheft System.

Radio system "Premium 8", refer to=> [ Premium 8 Electronic Anti-Theft System ] Premium 8 Electronic Anti-Theft System.

Radio Navigation System RNS 315, refer to => [ RNS 315 Electronic Anti-Theft System ] RNS 315 Electronic Anti-Theft System.

Removing

Perform the following steps before starting:

- If necessary, remove CDs remaining in unit, refer to the Owner's Manual.

- Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.

Now, perform the following work procedure:

- Pry off the cover in the center console using the (3409) - arrows -.






- Remove the radio/radio navigation system screws - arrows -.






- Pull the radio/radio-navigation system out of the installation slot just far enough so that the connectors on the back are accessible.

- Press together the connector lock in direction of - arrows -.






- Then swing mounting bracket out in direction of - arrow - and disconnect harness connector.






- Disengage harness connectors - arrows - from antenna connections and disconnect them.






Installing

- Insert the connectors to radio/radio navigation system and engage them.

- Slide radio/radio navigation system straight into the instrument panel.

• Never push on the display screen or on the buttons when sliding the radio/radio-navigation system back in. This could damage the unit.

- Secure the radio/radio-navigation system with the four screws - arrows -.






- Reinstall cover for center console.

- If necessary, deactivate the Antitheft coding:

• Radio system RCD 310, refer to => [ RCD 310 Sound System, Electronic Antitheft System ] RCD 310 Sound System, Electronic Antitheft System.

• Radio system Premium 8, refer to => [ Premium 8 Electronic Anti-Theft System ] Premium 8 Electronic Anti-Theft System.

• Radio Navigation System RNS 315, refer to => [ RNS 315 Electronic Anti-Theft System ] RNS 315 Electronic Anti-Theft System.

• Radio Navigation System RNS 510, refer to => [ RNS 510 Electronic Anti-Theft System ] RNS 510 Electronic Anti-Theft System.

- Check radio/radio navigation system coding and recode it if necessary.
