Wiper Motor: Service and Repair

Wiper Motor From Wiper Frame

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

• Pry Lever (80-200)

Removal

- Remove the windshield wiper system. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper System ] Windshield Wiper System.

- Pry the ball head - arrow - of the linkage - 1 - off of the motor crank using the (80-200) or a suitable screwdriver.






- Unscrew the hex nut - 1 -.






- Remove the motor crank - 2 - from the wiper motor shaft.

- Unscrew the mounting bolts - arrows - and remove the wiper motor with the control module from the wiper frame.






Installation

- Insert the wiper motor with the control module into the wiper frame and secure with the mounting bolts - arrows -.






- Tighten the mounting bolts to specification. Refer to=> [ Windshield Wiper System Overview ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.

- Mount the motor crank - 1 - on the wiper motor shaft.






Distance - a - to stop - 2 - must be 3 +/- 1 mm.

- Screw on the mounting nut - 3 - and tighten to specification. Refer to=> [ Windshield Wiper System Overview ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.

- Push the ball head - arrow - of the linkage - 1 - onto the motor crank until it locks in place.
