Rear Lid Tail Lamps

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)

• The following figures depict the removal and installation of the left tail lamp. The procedure for the removal and installation of the right tail lamp is the same.

Removal

- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.

- Unclip the service cover - 1 - from the rear lid trim.






- Pull the primary locking mechanism on the harness connector - 1 - and release and disconnect the harness connector.






- Unscrew the 3 mounting nuts - 3 - and remove the tail lamp housing - 2 - outward from the body cut-out in the rear lid.

Installation

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Tighten the mounting bolts - 3 - to the specification shown in=> [ Rear Lid Tail Lamps Overview ] Rear Lid Tail Lamps Overview.






- Connect the harness connector - 1 - until it engages audibly and then insert the primary locking mechanism.

- After installation, check the gap dimensions of the tail lamp with respect to the body and check the functions.
