Windshield and Headlamp Washer Fluid Reservoir Upper Section

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)

Removing

- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and move the ignition key or start button into the 0 position (preliminary engaged position).

- Remove the front bumper cover.

- Remove the right headlamp. Refer to 357 => [ Headlamp ] Headlamp or 358 => [ Headlamp ] Headlamp.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - and unclip the line - arrow - from the upper section of the reservoir.






- Remove the bolt - 1 - and unclip the entire length of the line - 2 - up to the pump connections from the reservoir.






- Remove the expanding rivet - 3 -.

- Remove the bolt on the inside of the upper section of the reservoir - 1 -.






To access the mounting bolt - 1 -, it may be necessary depending on equipment to loosen the line bracket of the pipes routed above it.

- Pull the upper section of the reservoir vertically up out of the rubber grommets on the lower section.

- Remove the upper section of the reservoir from the vehicle.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Insert the upper section of the reservoir vertically into the rubber grommets on the lower section.

When joining the two halves of the reservoir, coat the rubber grommet if necessary with lubricant suitable for rubber and plastic (e.g. polyethylene glycol).

When installing the upper section of the tank for windshield washer/headlamp cleaning system, make sure that the surrounding lines are not pinched and are clipped back into the tank in their original positions.

- Tighten all threaded connections to the specification shown in => [ Windshield Washer System Overview ] Windshield Washer System Overview.

- Bleed headlamp washer system after completing assembly work. Refer to => [ Headlamp Washer System, Bleeding ] Procedures.
