Windshield and Headlamp Washer Fluid Reservoir Upper Section
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)
Removing
- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and move the ignition key or start button into the 0 position (preliminary engaged position).
- Remove the front bumper cover.
- Remove the right headlamp. Refer to 357 => [ Headlamp ] Headlamp or 358 => [ Headlamp ] Headlamp.
- Remove the bolt - 1 - and unclip the line - arrow - from the upper section of the reservoir.
- Remove the bolt - 1 - and unclip the entire length of the line - 2 - up to the pump connections from the reservoir.
- Remove the expanding rivet - 3 -.
- Remove the bolt on the inside of the upper section of the reservoir - 1 -.
• To access the mounting bolt - 1 -, it may be necessary depending on equipment to loosen the line bracket of the pipes routed above it.
- Pull the upper section of the reservoir vertically up out of the rubber grommets on the lower section.
- Remove the upper section of the reservoir from the vehicle.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Insert the upper section of the reservoir vertically into the rubber grommets on the lower section.
• When joining the two halves of the reservoir, coat the rubber grommet if necessary with lubricant suitable for rubber and plastic (e.g. polyethylene glycol).
• When installing the upper section of the tank for windshield washer/headlamp cleaning system, make sure that the surrounding lines are not pinched and are clipped back into the tank in their original positions.
- Tighten all threaded connections to the specification shown in => [ Windshield Washer System Overview ] Windshield Washer System Overview.
- Bleed headlamp washer system after completing assembly work. Refer to => [ Headlamp Washer System, Bleeding ] Procedures.
