Ball Joint, Checking

Axial Play, Checking

- Forcefully pull the lower control arm down in the - direction of the arrow - and press it up again.






Radial Clearance, Checking

- Forcefully push the lower part of the wheel inward and outward in the - direction of the arrow -.






• There should not be any noticeable or visible "play" in either of the two checks.

• Observe the lower ball joint while performing the checks.

• Make allowances for any wheel bearing play or "play" in the strut mounting at the top.

• Check the ball joint boot for damage, replace the lower ball joint, if necessary.
