Daytime Running Lamp: Service and Repair






Daytime Running Lamp/Parking Lamp Bulb

The left daytime running lamp (L174) and right daytime running lamp (L175) can be checked with the headlamp range/cornering lamp control module (J745) output diagnostic test mode.

The illustrations show the procedure for removing and installing the right daytime running lamp.

The procedure for the left daytime running lamp is the same.

The illustration shows the removal and installation procedure on a headlamp that has been removed. The headlamp does not need to be removed to replace the daytime running lamp bulb.

Removing

- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and move the ignition key or start button into the 0 position (preliminary engaged position).

During removal and installation, leave ignition key with remote control inside the vehicle to prevent the doors from locking and possibly activating the "Coming Home / Leaving Home" functions on its own.

- Remove the cap - 1 - from the back of the headlamp.






- Rotate the socket and daytime running lamp bulb - 1 - in the - direction of the arrow - and remove it back from the reflector. Be careful of the connected wires.






- Press the daytime running lamp bulb - 1 - into the bulb socket - 2 - and turn it left to release it.






- Remove the daytime running lamp bulb - 1 - from the bulb socket - 2 -.

Daytime running lamp bulb: 12V, P 21 W

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

When installing cover cap, check gasket for proper fitting. It is destroyed by ingress of water into headlamp.

Do not touch the glass of the light bulb, when installing. Fingerprints will leave traces of grease on the glass which will evaporate and cloud the glass when the lamp is switched on.

- Check headlamp for function.
