Hood Latch and Cable







Hood Latch and Cable

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench 5 to 50 Nm (V.A.G 1331)

Removing






- Open the hood.

- Remove the radiator grille. Refer to => [ Radiator Grille through January 2011 ] Radiator Grille through January 2011.

- Disconnect the connector for the hood contact switch.

Harness connector is secured over right headlamp.

- Remove the bolts - 3 and 4 - (3 pieces) from the lock carrier - 5 - and remove the hood latch - 1 - upward - arrow a -.

- To unclip the release cable - 2 - press the retaining strap on the release cable together - arrows b -.

- Loosen the locking mechanism and remove the release cable - 2 - from the lid lock - 1 -.

Installation






- Install the release cable - 2 - into the hood latch - 1 -.

- Guide the latch - 1 - into the lock carrier - 5 -.

- Tighten the bolts - 3 and 4 - to the tightening specification: 12 Nm.

- Connect the connector for the hood contact switch.

- Install the release cable - 2 - to the cable coupling.

- Adjust lid lock => [ Hood Latch, Adjusting ] Hood Latch, Adjusting

Before closing the hood, test the function of the control lever and release cable.

Release Cable, Connecting and Disconnecting






- Open the hood.

- Unclip the release cable coupling - 2 - above the headlamp on the driver's side lock carrier - arrows a -.

- Open the release cable coupling - arrow b - and remove the release cable - 1 - in the- direction of the arrow c - from the release cable coupling.

Make sure the grommets - 4 and 5 - are secure when installing the release cable - 3 -.

Make sure the cable coupling is correctly connected together when installing the release cable - 1 -.

Before closing the hood, test the function of the control lever and release cable.
