Ribbed Belts
Ribbed Belts
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Locking Pin (T10060 A)
Removing
- Remove the noise insulation.
- Remove the right front wheel housing liner.
Removing the Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor Ribbed Belt
Risk of destroying due to a reversed running direction on a used ribbed belt.
• Before removing the ribbed belt, mark the running direction with chalk or a felt tip pen for reinstallation later.
- Rotate the belt tensioner - 1 - as shown, using a 15 mm box end wrench - A - in the - direction of the arrow - and secure it using the locking pin (T10060A).
- Remove the A/C compressor ribbed belt.
Removing the Generator, Power Steering Pump and Coolant Pump Ribbed Belt
Risk of destroying due to a reversed running direction of a used ribbed belt.
• Before removing the ribbed belt, mark the running direction with chalk or a felt tip pen for reinstallation later.
- Release the tension on the belt tensioner - 1 - for the A/C compressor belt (remove the locking pin (T10060A) ).
- Rotate the belt tensioner - 2 - using a 15 mm box end wrench - A - in the - direction of the arrow - and secure it using the locking pin (T10060A).
- Remove the generator , power steering pump and coolant pump ribbed belt.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order while noting the following:
- Route the generator, power steering pump and coolant pump ribbed belt over the pulleys, and then over the idler pulley - 4 -.
- Before tensioning the ribbed belt, rotate the A/C compressor pulley and make sure the ribbed belt is seated correctly on the pulley.
- Before installing the A/C compressor ribbed belt , secure the tensioner using the locking pin (T10060 A).
• Make sure the belt rotation direction is correct and that the belt sits correctly on the pulleys.
- Start the engine and check the belt running.
